Rover Station
Facade, Surface, Parametric, Scale, Light
Architecture is a form of abstraction to represent an image and recontextualize art in architecture through parametricism in Grasshopper Rhino. By scaling an object larger I reconstruct it into a different object relationship based on the scale to the human figure. Looking at different perspectives of the architectural model to understand the human figures relation and experience of a space.
Elysium Mons a site on the planet of mid-level elevation of 1-2 km above sea level. As a point in interconnecting Hellas Basin, Olympus Mons, Planum Boreum, Argyre Planitia, and Xanthe Terra through large planetary highways. As well as a view towards the plains like a lighthouse.
The rover station is a different project which challenges public perception of dominant narratives in space travel from a machine world or megastructure in space. This project speculates an architecture of Martian Brick facades and white concrete. Artistic representations of these materials in color gradient. It exists in contrast to the scale of megastructure projects and focuses more on the artistic and psychological wellbeing of astronauts.
Historical fictional and nonfictional studies and accounts of Martian worlds are a basis of ideas on which to rethink possible space futures. In past accounts of Mars, imagined fictional wars, interconnected regions, and advanced civilizations and peoples. In responding to this and the current projects, I propose a Rover Station as a pitstop for machine maintenance.
This project utilizes a material circularity approach to propose constructing out of materials on planet. Utilizing robotics to manufacture and build brick structures from the sand, gravel, regolith, and soil on site. To preserve the space of rocket payloads for mission critical packages.
Interior surfaces can translate as forms of representations of religious or social values. The curve or bend of a surface imitating the bend of a human or curve of a belief. White to represent a form of purity or interiority.
