Hospital, Domesticity, Home-like
In contemporary hospital settings, a prevalent issue lies in the lack of comfort and coziness within patients' rooms. These spaces often adhere strictly to clinical functionality, resulting in an environment that feels sterile and impersonal. The standardization of medical equipment and minimalistic decor fails to create a welcoming atmosphere, contributing to patients' discomfort and potentially hampering their emotional well-being. The absence of personalized elements and a homely ambiance can exacerbate the stress and anxiety associated with medical treatments, highlighting the need for innovative solutions that prioritize both medical efficacy and the psychological comfort of patients.
To address this issue, a transformative design approach is proposed for hospital patient rooms. By integrating soothing color palettes, soft textures, and personalized decor, the aim is to create a calming and inviting atmosphere. Adaptable lighting systems can mimic natural daylight, fostering a connection to the outside world. Modular furniture arrangements will ensure flexibility for individual preferences and medical requirements. Technological interfaces will be discreetly embedded to provide patient control and connectivity. This innovative design not only enhances physical comfort but also promotes emotional well-being. It recognizes the significance of a holistic healing environment, redefining patient rooms into spaces that prioritize both medical functionality and a warm, cozy ambiance.
Integrating the innovative design concept of rounded corners, four distinct "housepital" are envisioned within an existing hospital. These circular motifs introduce a sense of softness and approachability, departing from traditional angular aesthetics. Skillfully arranged in both plan and section, these circular spaces offer a refreshing departure from the clinical environment. Each "housepital" encapsulates a specific medical function, creating intuitive wayfinding for patients and staff. This design not only promotes a visually harmonious atmosphere but also symbolizes a patient-centered approach, cocooning medical care within a comforting and welcoming environment. The round-cornered "housepital" redefine the hospital's landscape, fostering a blend of architectural innovation and compassionate care.
Incorporating rounded corners as a design focal point, this thesis introduces four circular "houses" within an existing hospital. These innovative spaces reimagine conventional hospital aesthetics, prioritizing patient comfort and wayfinding. Symbolizing compassionate care within a welcoming environment, the rounded "houses" epitomize the marriage of architectural ingenuity and holistic healing.
